Question difference between epson c series and photo printers?

    hello all,

i'm just at a loss regarding epson's c60, c80 , etc. is this just a re-branding of their stylus color series? what the advantage over the photo series? obviously pictures, but how come some c series costs as much as the photo series?

    thanks for any ideas

You don't expect prices to reflect 'ability' do you ? ... price is down to what they think someone will pay & doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the price of fish !!!

As for c whatever vs stylus colour ... I believe the 'jet' bit changed to use less ink & that's it !! (besides a 'prettier' outside)... at the end of the day there isn't really that much to an inkjet ... a print head, an elastic band to move it & a 25 cent motor to pull the band, wrapped up in moulded plastic !!

It's all about getting you to buy more consumables which is where they make real money ... not on the units themselves ... I find it pretty strange when replacement inks cost almost as much as a new printer ! (sometimes it costs more !!!)

The basic differences between the C series and the photo series boil down to a couple of things..the photo series all use 6 color photo ink..(acid free..archival..or sort of anyway) and are capable of borderless printing. Except for the cheapest photo printer, all have capability to accept roll paper and to print directly from either a cd or a memory card. As for cost..the most expensive C series is around $99 US at Epson, and the Photo models go up to around $700 US
