    Angry Packard Bell troubles

    Hello there,

I've got somewhat of a problem here. My computer returned from the store and they formatted everything!

The problem now is, there's no soundcard installed. It is detected by Windows 98 Second Edition as PCI Multimedia Audio Device, but it's not on the Win-disc.

The system I've got is a Packard Bell Platinum 2540 (333 Mhz). On this site there are many Packard Bell sound drivers but I do not know which one.

So if anyone knows how I can detect my sound card (without removing the case (because it is a bit complicated to open ).

    Any help is welcome.

    Thx

Sounds to me like the store you took it to didn't finish the job you paid them for. Just take it back and demand that they finish what they started and what you already paid for.

    Hello,

Thanx for the tip, but the problem is a little different.

The shop I took my computer to last week isnt the same as where we've bought the computer. And I lost my driver-discs.....

    Thx anayway !!!

I would try to find the driver for you at PB's website, but for some reason the Packard Bell website wil not allow access to users of IE6!!!!!

If anyone could goto the UK/Ireland area of the site, the drivers should be there.

Well perhaps, but I just couldn't imagine sending a system that I had wiped back out the door without everything configured and working properly. Installing Windows (which you probably paid them to do) doesn't just mean copying files to the hard drive... It would be like paying someone to install a new engine in your car and them not connecting it back up to the transmission....

    Anyway, Good Luck.

[b]p.s. You might tell those people at the shop about www.Windrivers.com.... I hear it's a pretty good place to get help and find drivers for all kinds of hardware...LOL
