Pong came out in like 78 or 79, Dad got one for our T.V. Pong was all it played. You could select one, two, or four players though!
By the time I was a senior in high school in 82' video arcade games like space invaders and pac man had given way to cooler games like Donkey Kong and Tempest and Defender. How can anyone thats 22 in 2003 remember the real pong?!?

I know I'm dating myself (Ancient) with this post. I thought I remembered Pong before 78 (like 74). Anyway I found this link with more information than you ever needed to know about Pong.

Thats a cool article, I didn't know home tv based video game systems had been available as early as 74. I just recall the one dad brought home 78 or 79ish.

My neighbors across the street have a functioning sit down table top version that still works. Everyone in the neighborhood goes there to play from time to time.

Super Pong!
My parents got this for Christmas for us in like '74 or '75. I still have it, with the RF switch, it still works, and I'll pull it out every now and then just to watch people's expression when I say "Let's play a video game!"

Hi,
Just to let you know - My first was Atari 2600. My dad bought it when I was like 3 years old (78 or 79).
One of the first games was pong... and Tanks (which we (me and my two older brothers) played for hours)
I remember many hours of Enjoyment sitting in fron of Classic TV arcade.
My dad still keeps all of our old computers / TV games.
I sure miss those days when everything was Simple.
Sigh...
