New File for this month
http://www.spamblocked.com/proxomitron/
Proxomitron works in the background. It's goal: Do whatever must be done to ensure that you, the client, is served in the most effective possible manner.
This proxy Web server is an intermediary between your browser and the Internet, filtering data before it reaches your browser. It can block anything from simple banner ads and graphics to annoying pop-ups and potential spyware.
Once you install Proxomitron, you need to point your browser to it. Here's how to do it in Internet Explorer.
1. Click Tools, Internet Options, and choose Connections.
2. Click the wonderful LAN settings button. If you're on dialup, you'll need to select your connection from the Dial-Up and Virtual Private Network Settings window.
3. Still with me? Select Proxy settings and click the Advanced button.
4. Enter HTTP as the Entry Type, localhost for the Address entry, and 8080 for the port.
5. Click OK.
Of course, you'll be able to change what gets blocked and add your own entries, but you'll need to read the somewhat helpful manual to do it.
Since Proxomitron is locally served, it will slow things down a bit, especially if you're using an older or overburdened machine. The more things that are running on your system, the slower it will run. Close out of a few things if it becomes a problem and you should be surfing nag-free in no time.
works good...
oh and you can also set it up to have remote computers beable to go thru it on your LAN, just punch in a IP range, its pretty nice.
have fun
