Smile Using Digital Camera as a Webcam

    Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if it is possible to use a normal Digital Camera (with video and sound acapabilities) as a Webcam?

I have a Ricoh RDC-7, and it does everything apart from being a webcom.
It seems silly to go and get a webcam, if for only a limited time, I might like to use a webcam, and I actually have an Image capture device already to hand.

I have a USB link from camera to PC, and I was hoping that one of you guys might know of a driver and/or software that can read the USB port/camera to use it as a straightforward webcam.

    Yours

I've also wondered about the possibilities of using my digicam as a webcam or just for messing about. If the camera has a video out port on it, it may be possible. I have a Canon A20 which came with this port and an appropriate cable to plug it into the telly so you can see yourself.

Anyway, to cut to the chase...I think it may be possible to do it with a TV card or if you have a graphics card with MyVIVO (video in video out). I haven't tried this yet but I plan to buy a TV card soon. You can get them for about £40 for a reasonable one. Hook it all together and it should work.

Comments as to whether this will work would be appreciated as I want to try it myself.
