Well...
I ran a newly updated NAV scan, 6 deep, and found nothing. All the users have the same driver too.

like NOONOO says, screwy printer drivers. you need to update their printer drivers, or removed and reinstalled printer and make sure you dont keep the existing driver.

In case you haven't already done so, go here for drivers for your LJ 5si. Also, notice the links there for troubleshooting, etc. If the printer is printing garbage characters, the first thing it says it to reseat or replace your cable. Try printing a selftest to see if that prints correctly.

I have found that we have fewer problems when we use the LJ4 printer drivers. Seems the drivers for the 5 and 6 are not up to par.

I have similar problems with NW printer drivers (mainly HP) in citrix.
