good olde BP6 troubles

OK, i had a BP6 and a celeron 366a lying around, so I decided to build a machine. But I ran into a snag, my BP6 isn't cooperating. Once I got everything into the case and set up, i pushed the power button and. . .my ps powered up and the fans, but thats it, nothing else. So i took it out of the case, put it on an insulated pad and only put chip, RAM, and Vid card in. But again same results. I'm not even getting a beep code (yes my speaker is plugged in ) This is most odd. I started it up again and let it run for a few minuntes. After some time i turned off the power and checked the chip. . .totally cool, not a trace of heat, but the HS on the Vid card was warm. I then tried another chip, but I got the same results. I have also swapped out the RAM and Vid card, sadly no progress. I discharged the CMOS and even went as far as to reseat the Bios chip. I'm at a loss Am I missing someting?

Here are a few tips (and yes, i WAS an owner of thatboard) pull the board out of the case.. put it on an antic static mat and plug in your power supply. put in a PCI video card (it has some issues with high end AGP cards) put in ONE CPU (socket 0) and put in ONE stick o ram, nothing else. no HDD, no sound cards, NOTHING else.. see if that posts. If not, See if you can get your hands on a port80 card (a good tech shop will have one) and see where it's hanging.. Also, don't use the ECC ram.. use standard SDRAM.

If you manage to get the system posted, Kill the integrated ATA66 controller, it's a piece o crap.. again, if posted, when you dual up your CPU's put the faster CPU in socket 0. Also, check the steppings of the CPU's make sure they match..

I tried that, but to no avail . I think I can get my hands on a post card next week. Anyother ideas until I can get this card?

Try an old ISA videocard, if You have any laying around. May be, there is problem with BIOS - in that case only an ISA videocard can work.
Codegen PSUs definately aren't the best ones (especially modern ones!) - I would try another PSU...
