    Moto Racer 3

I tried to install Moto Racer 3 on a clients system the install goes without error but when you try to play nada, zip, nothing. I upgraded the video card drivers, sound card drivers, direct x, and the game patch but still nothing. The system is a p4 2.4 with 256 mb ram 32mb jaton b-32 plus agp video card XP Home Edition, and sound max onboard sound. Not being a huge gamer I am out of ideas especially since Delphine the company that made the game went out of business. Any ideas?

Yes Noo Noo it is original I wont even work on systems without the original disk and COA if applicable. Adept I did get it to work on my laptop with xp pro but I tried on two different xp home edition systems to no avail but both systems have the same configuration as the offending machine.

So the OS is ruled out as a problem for the game itself.

I'm thinking your nVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model64 based graphics card might not be up to par.

The specs for this card indicate it is DirectX 6.0 compliant and other information points to the possibility of it being DirectX 7.0 compliant.

Problem is, Atari (Infogrames) indicates that the system requirements for this game specify the need for a DirectX 8.0a compatible card.

If both your other PCs use this same card, then we'll have to look elsewhere for the explanation and solution.

According to the dxdiag page the system is running the 9.0b version of Direct X that I installed also last night I found a us patch that when installed allows you to turn of the sound and edit the video options I tried every combo available to no avail. So now I'm wondering about some sort of conspiracy from the game gods?

I'm not sure if I follow you...

You mean to say that you have DirectX 9.0b on your WinXP installation and that you can de-activate some of it's features/modules by using some sort of utility?

Or do you mean that the patch in question modifies the game's settings for debugging or whatever reasons?

And also, the fact that DX9 is on your machine wouldn't give your graphics card any advantage if it's not even DX8 (maybe not eve DX7) compliant, no?

I'm guessing your WinXP Pro laptop has a DX8 compliant card, which is the basic requirement for this game.

Did the other WinXP Home systems have the same video card or not?

I know how frustrating it can be when one of your favorite games refuses to work as intended, so I empathize with your gaming plight.

Sorry for the confusion the patch has the feature to disable sound and change various video settings to make the game work. The other systems all have the Intel Extreme onboard display adapter, so today I removed the video card on this system and worked with the same onboard display as the other systems but still nothing on this machine. And my laptop is running direct x 9.0b and it works with the game. I have an ATI radeon 9000 card on the shelf guess I will give that a whirl. Any other thoughts Adept. Oh and thanks for all the help so far your right its frustrating at times. Seems that lots of games dont work with lots of hardware from what I can see on there websites lots of faq's about change this and download this seems they are fighting each other a bit.
