Admin V User

I'm not having a good day!!! Loaded software on winxp pro - works fine and dandy as admin but logged on as user won't run. Have re-installed twice carefully looking for a permissions box to check but nothing there. I know I'm being slow - can anyone tell me how I get it to run as user?

For starters, what software are you trying to install?

A thing i have tried and had moderate success with: add this user to the local administrators group to ge things installed in their profile, then run and configure the app if required, then log them out, and remove them from the admin group.

You can also find the EXE of the program and add the users to the permissions of the application.

That's a good point. I forgot about that. I install my kids games all the time as myself, but when I log them into windows, certain functions won't work...like saving their progress and score in the game. By adding them to the permissions of the individual program folder everything is a sinch...Good call Futuretech

Sorry guys being really slow this week!! Went to .exe and right clicked but couldn't find anywhere to add permissions so that non-admins can use it. At the mo I have set the user to be administrator(!!!!) cos it's the only way they can use it. Is there another way to add permissions to the program? BTW, have tried earlier suggestion ya_know but that didn't work unfortunately. Wonder if McD's are hiring? Maybe I need a change .......

Turn off simple file sharing - my computer, tools, folder options, view - last check box

In some cases where the registry needs to accessed by the software, I go to regedt32>hkey_current_user>software, find the program you need and then click on the security tab and give FULL permission to the user. Hope this helps.
