Question Windows XP and Epson 570+ Label Printing Problem

Epson 570+ (Dot Matrix Printer on HP 170x JetDirect) in Windows XP Pro will print a single label fine. After the first label, the printer will advance 4-5 blank labels and start to print again. I have tried other print drivers (i.e. IBM 2381 Plus, Epson Compatible 24pin, and Lexmark) to try and correct the problem, but all do the same. I have also created a custom form to match the labels. The problem occurs in a custom app and in Word XP. The problem does not happen on a Windows 98 PC printing to the same printer. Any help would be great or if more information is needed.

    Thanks

This link says that WinXP has the drivers for your LQ-570+ already embedded in the OS. Are these the drivers you're trying to use?

Otherwise, you'll have to settle for these. Notice nothing listed for Win2000 or WinME or WinXP. However, notice the recent release dates. Hmmmm...

Also, your manuals are available for download.

    Finally,
HP Install Network Wizard for WinXP.

Let us know how it all ends up...Good Luck!

    Sorry,

    I left that info out.

I have been using the drivers that came with Windows XP Pro. I am pretty much at a loss of what to try next. I have called Epson techsupport. They are sending the problem to their R&D Dept., but who knows if I'll hear back from them.

I was able to find on some Microsoft message boards, others who were having the same problem, but no fix had been posted.

Have you tried printer properties options like printing directly to the printer (rather than spooling) and disabling advanced printer features?
Also try selecting other form/paper sizes (if you haven't already).

Can you connect it directly to a PC instead of using a JetDirect device/card? If so does it do the same thing when connected directly?

    Post Paper Size

What Paper size do you have selected when you go to print.

If you do not have one that is exactly the right size, go to Printers & Faxes and under File select Server Properties to set up a new paper size.

    Quick update,

The client did get the problem fixed. They just don't remember what they did to fix it. As soon as I get back out there and take a look, I'll post what the fix was.

    Thanks again to everyone

I'm having a similar problem. I have an Epson 570 connected via parallel cable, XP using the MS drivers. The problem is extra sheets fed after print job is completed. I've tried just printing one page and it still 'over' feeds. I'm going to 'tinker' with it today and try some of the tips suggested in previous posts. If some one does find the fix~Holler!

    Sorry Guys,

Here is what fixed the issue. Might not apply to everyone but should get you started in the right direction. You will probably have to play around with the label size.

Printer must be setup with a custom form
    4in width 3in height
    180x180dpi
    and Epson LQ-570ESC Driver
