    Angry Dumb F'ing customers

I know this subject has been done many times before, but just had to vent. Had a guy that called me the other day. He claimed that his power supply, that he had bought from us about 6 months ago, was under volting on the +5 rail. He asked if he could exchange it. I asked him if he had the receipt for the original purchase, and he said that he did, so I said sure. An hour or two later, this guy shows up with the power supply in it’s original box and receipt in hand. I open the box to inspect whether or not it is our power supply (Tag on product). At the same time I notice our tag, I also notice that the P4 4 wire +12V power plug is clipped off. I tell the customer that I cannot take this back for exchange because the product is damaged. Then this A hole starts ranting that it is not performing how it should be, and that he is still in his warranty period. So I gave him the scenario of, “So what your saying is that you can buy a car, rip out the dash to modify it how you like it, then return the car 6 months later demanding a refund because it does not have that new car smell.” (At this point, my boss had already been in close proximity for the most of this conversation.) So they guy asked to speak to the manager, and my boss who was there most of the time pipes in and says, “No, but you can speak to the owner.” Then they went at it, and after a few minutes, the guy had his tail between his legs while buying a new power supply from us. (Incase your wondering, he cut the P4 plug off to splice in his case fans.)
Get me a soldering iron and some duct tape, and I'll see what I can do.

Reminds me of a guy we had at work a couple of weeks back....

I run a convienience store, we operate a guarantee where if we don't have any bread in stock, we give a voucher for a free loaf when we do.

    Idiot walks up to me...

Idiot: You haven't got any bread on sale, can I have a free loaf?
Me: Yeah, ask at the checkout, she'll give you a voucher, bring that in when we have some and we'll give you a loaf for free.
Idiot: I don't want a voucher, I want a loaf, that's what your sign says.
Me: No it doesn't, it says we'll give you a voucher.
    Idiot: Yes it does, look.
Me: (Reading aloud) ...If there is no fresh bread available, we will give you a voucher which you can redeem for an 800gram loaf when some is in stock.
Idiot: But haven't you got any out the back?
Me: If I had some out the back, it'd be on the shelf, we haven't got any bread, so I can't give you any.
Idiot: (storms off to checkout) Your boss said I could have a free loaf. Can you get me one?
Checkout assistant: We don't have any, here's a voucher.
<insert conversation earlier conversation with me here, except it's checkout assistant and idiot, not me and idiot.
Checkout assistant: Hang on, I'll get him out here to explain.
    Me: Can I help?
Idiot: Yeah, I just spoke to your boss, he said I could have a free loaf.
Me: You jsut spoke to me, I explained that we don't have any and we will give you a voucher.
Idiot: No, I spoke to the other guy.
Me: No you didn't, I'm the only man on duty.
Idiot: You calling me a liar?

    etc, etc, etc
I'm in charge and I say we blow it up

Some people will continue to argue, especially when they know they're beat...

That exchange just reminds me of The Young Ones...

    Vyvyan:
Why can't we have some decent food?

    Neil:
Because we haven't got any bread.

    Vyvyan:
Well, why don't we get some bread?

    Neil:
Because, Vyvyan, we haven't got any bread!

I'm sure it's like this in any retail industry. In the petshop we get people trying to bring back animals they killed all the time and more often than not they were at fault even though I spent an hour explaining how to take care of the creature or something of that sort.

I used to be a LOT more high strung when it came to animal welfare and one day this couple pushed my buttons and the boss had to step in to calm me down after I yelled "you murdered this animal and you want me to replace it for free???". It didn't go over well with any of the parties involved but it was truthful esp. since I knew I went over the care of the animal with them.

People just don't want to take any responsibility for their actions and it's so annoying at times. Yeah, I try to get over once in a while but I don't try to screw screw people if I know I'm wrong.

The thing that sticks in my craw is when I hear about pets that starve to death because their owners are too lazy or cheap to feed them.

I have to agree with you Orangeman. Animals cannot talk back or communicate their needs. People like that need a bullet to the head…
