Stupid donkey noise coming from PC - Honest!
Ok... now that you've all stopped laughing... I am REALLY having a problem with this...
My better halves PC has this randomly occurring donkey "hee haw" noise. It's happened when I'm sitting at her PC as well, so it's not just that her ears have gone wonky.
I've ran the Trend Online scan, ran a full AVG scan, ran Spybot Search and Destroy and searched "all files" for *.wav to try and find a file called "donkey.wav" or "heehaw.wav" etc etc.
She also reckons there's been a pig noise on there, but that may have been me eating my dinner, anyway I haven't heard the pig noise myself so it's as yet, an uncorroborated porcine utterance.
The next things to try are various system restore points.. or perhaps deleting her profile as when I was using the computer, there were no animal noises coming from it.
If anyone could help prior to me doing these, I'd REALLY appreciate it
TIA

Try going to Control Panel / Sounds(and Audio Devices) & select / play all the selected alerts in turn. You should be able to find it & replace it with something more appropriate.

What programs do you have running in the background? Could be an alert from one of your IMs, or something like that...

Thanks all for the replies... I feel a touch stupid to be honest, I did check through the control panel sounds applet.. however, the ones I didn't check? A O bloody L. My missus found the problem at 4 am this morning... and decided to wake me up to tell me that she'd changed the nasty donkey noise to a nice cats meow noise
Thanks a lot everyone for the replies
