Speaker issue with PCPHONE Software and Windows XP
I am looking for ideas and advice - I am trying to set up my toshiba 1800 S??? PIII - 850 with PCPHONE from iconnecthere.com ( a long distance provider). I had it working fine on my laptop - until I upgraded the operating system from 2000 to windows xp. Now the PCPHONE does not recognize the speakers (ALi Audio Wave). The speakers work fine for all other applications and programs as far as I can tell. I have tried updating the sound card drivers from Acer's site - but maybe I am not installing them correctly. I am wondering if the speakers are in use by another program - that runs in the background. Another related question? how do I determine the laptop model I have - Toshiba's product support is specific to model number - I know I have a satellite 1800 2 hundred something?

If the sound is fine with everything else, then your computer is fine, you should be looking to iconnecthere.com for a patch to run with xp. Check also that you have optomised your sound as shown in the tech faqs at the bottom right of this page

Hi - thanks for the advice - I have tried to optimize the sound - the perplexing thing is that the phone works fine on my XP laptop at work. It just doesnt work with the ALi Audio Wave speakers that are preinstalled on the laptop - is there any way I can change the soundcard on a laptop?

Yes I tried reinstalling and uninstalling it several times - I am resigned to thinking that is a driver problem with ALi Audio Wave. I am not giving up yet.
the iconnect folks had no advice at all for me.
thanks for your help though
