ebay issue
a coworker of mine found a sweet deal on an item. he won the auction and sent the payment to the seller.
the seller hacked an individuals ebay account and used that as a front to collect the wired money and jet. any ideas?
1. western union-a picture id with the ebay persons identity was used to collect the funds. no go.
2. ebay- still waiting for response. the seller actually pulled the item off of auction, so the item id does not come up on a search. the e-mail address given on the hacked ebay account does not match up when doing a search.
3. yahoo- i told him to contact the police and get an administrative subpoena to have yahoo release the id of who is the owner/user of the email address ***@yahoo.com.
anyone have any good news i can help this fella out with. i will keep my fingers crossed.

the only place i can think to start looking for more info is western union office where it was cashed.
aren't they on camera when cashing that stuff? does western union offer any kind of way to get his money back? could the local cops in that area help
well either way check with the experts
also this is ebay's fraud complaint form for what it's worth
good luck

As far as ebay go the most they'll cough is $175 per item (craggies link refers - the form!) & you have to have been fleeced for more than $500 to get that ...
An ebay card hardly seems much proof to collect money at western union though to me - is that all it takes ?

update-
well so far no go. we did read up and find out about the $175 that ebay will pay. he found a harley and wired $2800, so that's why it's an issue. but i am hopeful for him, ebay did help me on an issue once. it took almost a year to come to a conclusion, but it did work out.
thanks to all.
the fraudulent person made valid id in the identity of the ebay account holder, or whoever the wire was to. i guess the yahoo administrator is looking into it as well.

It's interesting to note that the term Hoopa refers to the name given it by the Federal Gov. The name for the individual indian is Hupa Indian. We have the Hupa's, Yuroks' and the Kurok's in our immediate area. Biggest reservation in Calif.
