chat room ?'s
I went into the chat room for the first time today, I am a bit confused how it works. I was taught how to change my name but what is with the @ next to the nicknames is that a mod? and the plus by other names. and there seems to be allot of "/" commands what are these for?
thanks

@ is the chat room ops <-- thems the folks you don't wanna pi$$ off.....
+ means you have voice in the lobby, so if for some reason the room is silenced you can still talk...those without can't.

@'s are chosen by some comittee most likely, or the current @'s and then its on an as needed basis. You can be a permanent op, or you can be given ops temporarily that will not be there again next time you login.
+ is when the ops determine its appropriate, different places use different guidlines on that....so you would most likely have to ask about that.

Not in the chat room, the louder the voice the better, and you better keep gettin louder and never stop or someone else might take over, then imagine how loud your voice will have to start at to take them over, so reach for the stars buddy, go for it all, don't be afraid to hack into things, to voice your opinoin, to tell truly tasteless jokes, to berate those that are dumber and weaker, and always remember what papa cleetus always said......

Some probably/may think so, but I would maybe see about pm'ing an op and just asking what it takes if you truly want to know. Might be better percieved than asking in open lobby.
Just a thought anyway......

To get a "voice" in the chat requires generaly three things- a good amount of knowlege so you can be helpful to the guests
- be well behaved, and don't piss off the ops
 - being in the chatroom often also helps, you might make it into one of the ops auto-voice script
here are two useful commands you might use:
/nick newnick
Changes your nickname
/me Does something
denotes you doing something rather than saying something
Rellik ponders that question some more

Chat Operator
Chat can get confusing, you've been giving good advice here. If you plan on spending any amount of time in chat, then consider downloading a dedicated client like mIRC @ www.mirc.com. Server is forums.windrivers.com port 8000.
has said, the @ people are the moderators in the room, and voiced is saved for people who are regulars and contribute to the community there.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask the modertators and/or voiced peops in the room, we are more then happy to help.
