Post oracle 8i on windows 2003

    Hi! everyone.
I am new and want to know if we can load oracle 8i enterprise on WINDOWS 2003 server. We have upgraded our server recently and WIN2K3S was preinstalled and bundled with it. Earlier we were using WIN2KS and Oracle 8i. Any pointers and help will be highly appreciated.

    Welcome to Windrivers mikealz

I don't forsee any problems just reloading, but this is windoze ! W2k to w2003 'transplants' are mostly trouble free ... then again oracle is now on version 10 something ... so who knows, I can find info that says that' 2003 is 'compliant', & info that says oracle 8 is compliant with w2k, but not that oracle 8 is compliant with server 2003 !, to be honest I'm gonna have to say try & see ! (but you will have a support contract pressumably with oracle ? so errr umm ask them !)

Mmmm wouldn't it have been better to be asking this before upgrading ?

Please let me know how it works on your end. I tried upgrading our live server from 2k to 2003 server, but I think it tried to look for the raid controller driver which was not found and so it corrupted the boot up process. had to do a lot of things to recover the oracle db server after restoring from tape backup.

    so beware
