system tools unavailable
Hi all,
Running XP pro (sp1) on Compaq EVO 1000c laptop. Company machine and I'm supposed to have full rights. Seems that System Tools option is unavailable, thus System Restore is unavailable. Checked gpedit and I'm supposed to have access to System Restore. Is there another way I can get get to System Restore? Maybe another place in the OS to check why it's not available?
thanks,
d

Why not just ask your IT department? There may be a policy against system restore.

I have asked about it and was assured that there was no policy set against System Restore. I'm pretty sure I have full rights to this machine but System Tools under which System Restore is an option, is not even available. Just wondered if there some option that's not turned on....thanks..d

Have you checked to see if system restore is turned on? Right click my computer, properties, system restore tab.
System restore can also be accessed through the help and support option on your start menu, open it, type in system restore - under pick a task you will fin Run the System Restore Wizard.
