Not sure if this applies to your situation or not, but you might check ot Fatal Exception OE It says it applies to Win95 but might apply to you also.

As you probably know, OE usually refers to Outlook Express. Is this what you use to check your email? If so, OE comes with Internet Explorer. Once you upgrade IE, OE will also be upgraded...if you select it from the Default listing. BTW, which version of IE and OE are you running? http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.asp
You might also try running IE Repair. It just might solve your problems.
Good Luck!

Twigs, the numbers are not always terribly helpful, but the rest of the message is. Fatal exceptions usually mention a particular file - can we have the whole message please.

Don you are now confus-ed .... its not 'O' but '0' (zero) ... 0E is a hex value (base 16) - it means some kind of input/output error generally
As Noo correctly says, the full stop message will help, this hopefully will contain the calling module (i.e what does it!) & then maybe we can have a bash at fixing it up ....

If you look at his posts, it is definitely the letter O not the number 0. But I would tend to agree with you: we need more info.
But again, it's not the first time I've been confus-ed.

He did indeed type an 'o' ...however in the context of any BSOD or Stop condition especially coupled with the phrase 'Fatal Exception' its almost certainly '0E' not Outlook Express - we even have a member with that name, so he must get lots !!!

Well my friends it differently looks like a O on my screen. The message was gerenic and said nothing about Fatal Exception. Wish I could remember the exact error message. But it didn't say much of anything. I believe I'm running Outlook Express 6.0 But I'm not at my computer at this time to tell you. I know I upgraded it maybe 6-8 months ago.

Well got this same BFF9......error again. This time I paid more attention to the message.
I think it was a 0 with a line through it then the E It did say Fatal Exception. But didn't say what the error was just gave me the long number.
Was wondering could I insert my Win 98se disk and have it fix errors. But was wondering if I did that would it effect my other programs.

Next time write the error message down and post it here, all of it.
Yes try start, run sfc
click ok
with your win98 disk in
tell it to scan all files and see if it finds any corrupt and post the results please.

I did the scan and these are the files that need to be restored.
mscat32.dll
mssign32.dll
mssip32.dll
cryptui.dll
cryptext.dll
cryptnet.dll
msoss.dll
Is it ok to restore these files ??

Yup ! Though those all look like IE files not OE files, maybe they have a bearing on your issue ...
Still waiting for the 'error message' though
