Red face Need help desperately

Hello. I really need some help. Sometime ago I had gotten a virus so I reformatted my hard drive. Since then I have only been able to get 2 or 16 color and 640 by 480 pixels. I have tried everything from installing drivers ect... I do get the option when I go to super vga but when I restart my computer it says it isn't compatable to my hardware. I am using win98, I believe my monitor is epson 1770..I am just at a lost and I don't know what to do.

You need to install the exact drivers for your Video Card.

Sounds like you don't have the correct video drivers installed. Start by finding out what video card you have in your computer. If the computer is a factory brand, the correct driver should be under C:\windows\options\cabs or on a recovery CD. If you have to, pull the card out and post any manufacturers name and any other numbers you may find on the card and I'm sure one of the members would be glad to tell you what drivers you need and where to download them.

This is definately a driver issue, Right-click on "My computer" and then go to "properties" and then to "device manager" in the device manger see if you can find the video adapter that you have. Reply back with the Maker and model and we will go from there with finding the drivers

d/load hwinfo from www.hwinfo.com (dos version) put it on a floppy(system formated floppy)or leave it in a directory on c: and run from a c: prompt ,

this should give u adiquate info on your v/card.

then go to www.driverguide.com and sign in with the user name: drivers and the password: all , go to searsh / drivers and type in the first 3 letters and go to Mfg web site.

d/load the drivers and either unzip into a directory or run if it is a *.exe file.

if u unzip the files , go into display and select different card/driver and point it to c:\(unzipped files) and go for it.
