    Dr-dos

I'm looking for a free downloadable copy of DR-DOS or FreeDOS to replace the DOS emulation in Win XP & 2K. A co-worker is having trouble with a DOS-based app we use. It won't run on his laptop. Anybody know where I can find one?

You might want to try FreeDos:

I've had lots of 'fun' historically with different versions of DOS & setting 'viable' environments for them to run in, so I too have considered 'other' DOS versions...

I got sick of version 'annomolies' (which you might create throwing an 'unknown' DOS version in the pot) - my prefered solution now is to create dual boot to a suitably sized partition (suitably formated too - I use a 95 boot disk to do this) & use a boot manager to switch - (I suppose, technically you 'might also' need a 98/95 or 3.11 licence for each machine)

BTW Dr-dos is a commercial product - though there are moves to create an open source & thus free version.
