    New Playststion- the PSX

    Details Here ...

says it's got "digital media hub features: a TV tuner, DVD and hard-drive recording and photo album and music player functions" also Ethernet and USB ports and plays both PlayStation and PlayStation2 games and a 160-gigabyte hard drive.

the computer network geek in me is drooling at the possibilities while the kid in me loves the frosted side.

I am not impressed at all. Sure, it has a lot of features...but i feel that i wasted $200 on my PS2, i cant hardly justify $800 for this thing. it still only has 2 controller ports, and they are on the back of the unit.

you could mod an xbox and get all of those features, for around half the price, plus a better gaming experience since the xbox destroys PS2 for gaming.

Hell, even if you don't go the modded seX-BOX way, you can build a media pc for half that price that does everything it does and play emulated games from other systems (including PSone) by using this : www.myhtpc.net .

This or Windows XP Media Center Edition...

    How about neither.

However, it's a dollar short and a day late. WinXP MCE is actually gaining acceptance amoung the PC manufacturer, including Sony, who has a MCE product.

It'll do well in Japan, that's about it.

me too. I have dumped more money into it than just about everything else i own. (other than my car and computers) so far, I am up to 38 games, 6 controllers, 3 memory cards, dvd kit, live kit..and a few misc accesories. I have spent over $2100 on xbox so far..and it shows no signs of stopping. I like it so much better than my PS2 and Gamecube. And there are a ton of new games coming out soon.

I'm not all that crazy about the gamecube or the xbox. The game titles I like are on the playstation. there's a couple titles i play on the others, but not much. The GF is the big gamer.

I would never pay a subscription for Xbox Live when you can get it for practically free. If online gaming is your thing.

And I think the price on the PSX will be much lower when it hits the states a year from now, so the $700 doesn't worry me. (for that matter we got our PS2 for free)

I think the HTPC features are nice, but it does look like they're trying to make it do everything (potentially poorly), rather than do a few things well. Time will tell.

This is more of a media center then a playstation console with the ability to load ps1&2 games. With a price like that, a new computer wiil do just fine
