    sudden influx virus...

just like a little feedback please, The last few days have seen a sudden increase in infected virus mail and spam. Where previously hardly any. so i have had to start using mailwasher.
Any ideas why this should happen virtually overnight.

Are they all from the same address? Check the headers to be sure.

I've been getting the one from "Symantec" advising me to install the attatched file. Got a great laugh, but I can see how a great many people could be fooled. It advises me to upgrade my Norton Antivirus 2004 with the file attatched, only I don't use Norton and the last sentence has very bad grammar.

    Not that I'm paranoid...

I use different email aliases for different sites I visit, especially forums. Nearly all the infected mail I get comes to an address I only ever use when visiting the MS newsgroups and forums. Guess it wouldn't take much to collect alot of addresses from there, and then when they send these delightful packages from """Microsoft""", no surprise some people would be fooled to thinking they're genuine!

BTW, I've collected a mere 388 in the last 4 weeks......

    Keep vigilant!!!

    filter, filter, filter

At work, I just look at the headers and put the offending emailers on my blacklist file on the mail server. Plus add filters to my email program. At home, my ISP does not filter junk. So, my qurb software just filters the bad boys out and my antivirus deletes the attachments.
