need multimedia audio driver
after reloading windows-xp i no longer have any sound. Cannot find a driver that works with my computer. My pc is: hp pavilion a250n, 2.60 GHz, 512MB, 120GB hard drive, nvidia Geforce 4 MX 440, DVD+RW/CD-RW, w/Intel pentium 4.
It says a sound is not installed but how can that be when I had sound before I reloaded Windows XP. Anyway, I need a sound driver. Please help.

First off, Welcome to Windrivers Edgar.
Second, check the following and make sure everything is kosher:
http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/documen...h07154&cat=faq
Third: go into devce manager and check to see if the sound drivers are listed or not:
Get to Contol Panel then check System...then Hardware, device manager.
Tell us what you see.
Then let us know.

Geezer
According to HPs site that particular computer comes with an onboard s/c - "Integrated AC'97 with 6-channel configurable audio " ... these are well known for going wrong driverwise, but xp should know what that is !
Try & describe all the devices in sound, video and game controllers subsection of device manager & any asociated error messages or 'peculiarities' which might be there.
What was wrong with the restore disk (which has all this stuff) anyway ?
