    Utlities

AIDA32 is a professional system information, diagnostics and benchmarking program running on Win32 platforms. It extracts details of all components of the PC. It can display information on the screen, print it, or save it to file in various formats like HTML, CSV or XML.

Unknown Device Identifier enables you to identify the yellow question mark labeled Unknown Devices in Device Manager. And reports you a detailed summary for the manufacturer name, OEM name, device type, device model and even the exact name of the unknown devices. With the collected information, you might contact your hardware manufacturer for support or search the Internet for the corresponding driver with a simple click. With this utility, you might immediately convert your unidentified unknown devices into identified known devices and find proper driver on the Internet and contact the hardware device manufacturer or vender. Known devices recognized by Microsoft Windows will also be analyzed independent of the operating system.

    Cool tools mainer!
I have to admit, I checked you out first, though.
You almost seem like a salesman.
Why do YOU recommend these tools?
    Have you used them???
While checking you out, I read your previous posts, and it seems like you are a beginner.
    Am I wrong?
So, why would you recommend these tools to Windrivers members?
When you give links to "tools" for techs, the usual procedure is telling us why they are SOO good, how you used them, and how they helped.
Not just copying and pasting their own advert.
    So:
    why do you recommend them???
Are they any better than any tools already out there?
    If so, why?
I am not trying to be critical, believe me.
All of us techs can ALWAYS use the latest and greatest tools.
    Thanks for the effort mainer.
I will try these tools...they look really interesting.

I have been repairing computers for five years, and the reason I posted a link to these utlities are they are very good tools I found last week to help chase down drivers. I chose to post this information because of the help I recieved a couple of weeks ago in this forum. I wanted to Repay the kind people who took time to help. I chose to cut and paste the description because they better explained the features. I have tried these two tools last week and in my opinion they are handy to have.
I will not post to your groups forum anymore. I was only trying to repay a debt. I was not trying to hype these programs, they are Free. I apologize for offending anyone.

    Why not????
Geez, I said we appreciate it!!
I also said I was trying not to be critical, but I guess I failed.
I noticed that the first one is free and it is Hungarian, so I figured it wasn't yours.
I asked that you tell us why you thought the were good, and you did.
There is no need to apologize!!!
    I APOLOGIZE to YOU!!
Geez, I know this may sound funny to some coming from me, but:
"Don't be soo sensitive" and keep on posting.
    Alright?
A couple of the members here have really peeved me off several times to the point where I have considered not posting anymore. (And they know who they are!! ) And now I have gone and done it?

I stumbled accross these and I thought they were pretty interesting to say the least. I don't know if they have ever been covered in a previous thread but if they have I am sorry.

    http://www.knoppix-std.org/

This is a variant of the original Knoppix. Its a live cd distro. Allows you to run a linux OS off of CD. It has several other tools. I think it is pretty powerful and useful.

For those that like the windows flavor...
    http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/

This is a nice tool as well. Great for backing up data on a machine that you can't get into. It is very configureable and definitely an addition to my tool kit.

Anyway, I thought I would share these tools that I came accross for those of us that don't live on Tech TV or other technical forums.
