Geezer
WTF is a file called '~.'
This is a new one on me .... have a user who keeps getting a file called '~' appear on his desktop (just '~'{tilde} no suffix) ... so I opened it with notepad & it appears to be the contents of his address book !!
No viruses, trojans or anything iffy I can detect (with a barage of tools/av proggies) .... I get rid of it but it just keeps re-appearing after 4 or 5 days, this is a pretty clean instal, I'm confident the user hasn't added anything 'bad', but I suppose there's a new net nasty everyday ... most confus-ed on this one !
Suggestions ... leads please

You're quite welcome.
It's weird stuff like this that keeps me interested in IT and allows me to keep current until I find a full-time job.

Yep. Just ran into that one last Saturday. When will Microsoft "patch" THIS patch?
