Motherboard
My daughter's computer is getting the message - IRO Allocation Error Motherboard Function #:12. The computer has a Phoenix Bios.

Morning, I'd like to ask a few questions first,
Firstly, What spec is the PC?
Secondly, Have you added any new hardware recently?
Thirdly, How long has it been doing it for?

I think the message is irq allocation.... therefore Garak, it would be new hardware being added - or someone has done a bios reset which has changed the settings for the hardware to allow the irq clash to happen.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

You are right NooNoo, her son went into setup and what he did I don't know. I told her to try the default settings but got the same results. This is an older computer but she lives in another town.

Well it would have been the menu that allocates irqs to pci slots - or possibly the irq allocation for com and lpt ports.... you will just have to go through it with her till you find the combination that works.
