    Outlook 2003 and Exchange 2000

    I am having trouble with Outlook 2003 and Exchange 2000. I can't get it to hook up to an exchange server. When I goto load outlook and connect to my exchange server I get this message JUST as it goes to populate the navigation bar:

    Unable to open your default e-mail folders. The Microsoft Exchange Server computer is not available. Either there are network problems or the Microsoft Exchange Server computer is down for maintenance.

    If someone how to resolve this i would aprechiated.

    Thank

    First take out the obvious reasons - check for communication (ping to the server).
    Second Set the Timeout (connection timeout) to more than 30 seconds.
    If that is no veil try to see if the problem is consist on another computer on the network.

    Another error that Outlook pop's up is:

    "A system component ,RPC, requiered by outlook to connect to the e-mail server is not configured properly".

    The connection to the server is ok the problem seems to be in Outlook 2003 I have 2000 and XP E-mail clients and they all work correctly

    Thanks

    Well searching that error thru google groups gave me this.

    I would doublecheck the stuff listed on google groups another listing suggests modifying the registry like so...

    probably...

    Check for the presence of these keys and add them if they are missing:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Rpc\ClientPr otocols]
    "ncacn_np"="rpcrt4.dll"
    "ncacn_ip_tcp"="rpcrt4.dll"
    "ncadg_ip_udp"="rpcrt4.dll"
    "ncacn_http"="rpcrt4.dll"
    don't know if the patch from M$ and the reg mod is the same thing.

    I'm getting this exact same error message, with Exchange Server 2000 using Outlook 2003. However I don't receive the RPC error message. The other PC's are using Outlook 2002 and can use the Exchange server just fine. I've tried logging on as other users with my Outlook 2003 and I can't access the exchange server
