    networking simulator

This may sound stupid but I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there's such a thing as a networking simulator that could be used for training/educational purposes. I'm looking for something that would simulate the same effect as working on a corporate network where certain events would occur and the student must resolve them. Any help offered would be appreciated.

Not that I am aware of - most students get 2 or 3 pcs together in a network and then start crashing them and learning how to put it right that way.

there are router simulators, that allow you to practice giving routers commands. There are also router network simulators, where the program will simulate the actions of the routers and show how data will flow with the effect of PPP connections, ACL's and various routing protocols. These simulators are designed for laying out the network and finding trouble spots before implementing it, not learning it.

As for a network where everything is connected, Like NooNoo said, most people build one with 2-3 or even 4 computers.
