web page not loading

didn't if i should continue with previous post or start a new one.anywho when i try to open a web page in the address bar it reads:
res:c:\windows\system32\shdoclc.dll\havcancl.htm#http://intel.com
i tried different versions of both the file and isp(aol).looked at prop.of ie too
but couldn't find anything.but it loads with msn/ie.

(I see I brought this two thread businesss on myself!)

The pertinent info is : Fresh xp install ... me & doc 'sparring' .. then these bits:-

As far as I can figure you've done a clean xp install, had some kind of copy trouble after that trying to copy your windows cd to disk, then added AOL & now when you try & use AOL you get these weird messages ? But internet explorer works fine?

I don't mean to be rude but explaining things clearly makes your chances of getting a decent answer much better

ok i give up.i'm still gettin this error when type an address in the add.bar of aol
"res://c:/windows/system32/shdoclc\havcancl.htm#http://intel.com".it also says no page to display.but everything works fine in i.e.

noonoo thanks. yep it only happens in aol.the version is eight and their tech
support---well all three people i spoke to tried the same thing.clear browser cache,uninstall/reinstall aol adapter and run their auto fix/pc check up.nothing worked. thanks again

they didn't suggest it but i changed it anyway.still got the same result.from an
earlier thread by someone it turned out to be the wiring.no such luck with me
though;i'm splitting the connection between two pc's.the other connects with no hassles.later on i"ll go direct with new wire to phone jack.

yeah your right confus-ed.ok so this is a software issue?well i found an earlier version--7 installed that and got the "no page to display"page.removed that and installed their newest-- 9.hehehe sorry had to laugh cause according to their support any new installs can't access their servers for access numbers.support said 24-48 hrs maybe.

Errr ... at the risk of being rude ... I did tell you 'a whole thread ago' that this was s/w specifically AOL & to take it up with them !

Again ... as I commented earlier your 'style of posting' isn't making things overly clear ... I thought it was just me who couldn't 'fathom' you - however the 'infinately more patient than I' - NooNoo seems to be struggling with you too.

My suggestion - completely remove AOL (they have 'tools' which clean up your system & remove ALL traces of whatever version you installed - ask them for it), & start again ! though if you've had a few goes with different versions that might be tricky

Your issue is specifically with AOL, & you are paying THEM for the privalege ! Make them work for their money !!!!

We on the other hand are smarter & Free - ...but if I can pin the 'blame' on someone who's charging you - they can damn well sort it out themselves !

Had this same problem but with Windows98. Hope this works for you. Uninstall all versions. Then install Version 6.0. It has different network adapters. That is where the problem is. After you install 6.0 test it. Then install 9.0 and you should be good. Let us know.
