    Angry video/monitor

friends pc has a sylvania flat screen monitor with pci vid. card.turns pc on only to see a blank screen.it gives the post video error beeps.reseat the card, check connections restart
same thing occurs.change monitor to gateway crt;boots with no trouble.move gateway monitor to a usable position;now it doesn't boot and the screen is blank;post error beeps are back. both monitors worked with the pc prior to this.will try a swap of vid cards.any other ideas will be appreciated.

Blink if you are getting 3 beeps (on award bios) it doesn't matter what monitor you plug in, the video card in the machine is either badly seated or dying.

It COULD be a bad cable to your monitor - but in my experience bad cables produce no video error beeps, just a blank screen!

Changing video card is your only option - it could, however, be worse, it could be the slot on the motherboard board that is bad....

I have seen more than a few that would give the post video error beeps when a MONITOR wasn't properly plugged into the video card. Don't know why this happens. It doesn't make sense to me, but I've seen it.
