    Post Sony Laptop Video Problem

I am having a problem with a Sony FXA36 laptop screen. I have reinstalled Windows XP Pro several times with the same end result. After a while the screen will go dark as the monitor shuts off. Moving the mouse will not bring the monitor back. It either stays black or come back faintly with a slow scroll and garbled screen. It is only the laptop screen that does this. If I connect a monitor to it while the screen is black or garbled, the display on the monitor is perfect. Restarting will bring the laptop screen back. Sometimes this occurs after several hours, sometimes after the monitor shuts off the first time. Any suggestions as to where I might start to correct this problem would be greatly appreciated. BTW I have already made sure that the latest drivers have been installed for the LCD and the video card.

I replied to you in the company forums about this too.

Check your powersaving settings. Some laptops dont like hibernate.

I have also seen screwy screens on laptops that just get hot... but a crt monitor displays fine.
