Have you been into the soundmax applet in control panel and changed the speaker setup?

I think NooNoo wants you to go there and make sure everything is "kosher".
We need to eliminate all possiblities before we determine the sound chip is just no good!!
    Is this a new mboard?

Go into the soundmax applet and set it to desktop speakers.

alright i fixed it...seems like the front audio panel needed two jumpers...which didn't come with the motherboard...the jumpers redirect the sound back to the back audio panel to my speakers...anyway thanks for your help

Just goes to show how we often don't have enough "info" to help.
What front audio panel on an Intel board are we talking about?
Anyway, glad you figured it out.
