XP Pro full - will it upgrade?

Retail will....OEM will not...well, it can but it's not supposed to.

Keeping in mind that upgrading your Operating System usually will reduce your system's stability and a format would better.

I am fully aware of the upgrade process and the rare problems with xp upgrades. I just wanted to know if XP Pro full/non upgrade...would act as an upgrade.

Yeah...I knew I had tried it and it didn't work....just couldn't remember the exact circumstances. We don't stock XP Pro...and I don't like it NEAR as much as my Win 2K...2K is just more stable IMHO. Thanx for the responses guys!

Retail full needs to be run from within Windoze to offer the upgrade, not from booting up with the CD.

How do you know it's wrong? My system at home didn't not operate NEAR as well with Windows XP Pro as it did with Win2k...you're welcome to come over and let me prove you wrong.....north Alabama. I game....and it's faster than Windows XP as proven by Toms Hardware....in games. I'm not saying there is a 30fps difference but faster is faster.

How do you know it's wrong? My system at home didn't not operate NEAR as well with Windows XP Pro as it did with Win2k...you're welcome to come over and let me prove you wrong.....north Alabama. Been to Alabama, won’t go back without a gun to my head.

Ok, your one PC operates “better” with 2k than XP (is that home or Pro). I can’t remember a situation with any of my PC’s, my office PC’s, or any of the ones I’ve worked with on the side where XP didn’t out perform. The only situations where I would recommend staying with 2k is with a system below 256 mb, and somewhere under 500 mhz, although it could certainly run on a 350 (did it for over a year). Just seems that XP needs the extra horsepower to get the best experience. However anything over 1 ghz, and more than 320 MB runs like a champ with XP. You know what else? 2k takes a week to boot, and another to shutdown or reboot. XP on the other hand boots like you are turning on a switch. And rebooting, I barely have time to pick up a pencil and write “Windows 2000 sucks @$$”, and I am already at a login prompt.

My disclaimer, I have never used XP home, nor would I recommend it to anyone already using 2k. So maybe that’s where we are on different sheets of music.

I'm sorry....i forgot ur never wrong....LOL btw....at home means my computer in my house (saw u thought we were on different pages)....Alabama is a GREAT place to live with friendly people and tons of beautiful women...so the only reason you would put a gun to your head is if you're gay and arrogant (had to throw the arrogant in there somewhere hehe). The pc i'm talking about at home is a barton core processor with 512 mb ddr333 and an asus a7v8x mainboard. I don't constantly power my pc on and off so I really don't care about boot times....big friggin deal. My main concerns are things that take "time".....as in converting things to dvd and such (drag racing videos...etc..) Anyway...have a nice day....what part of alabama did you go to...Birmingham????? If so it's more like Atlantic City than a southern town...my town is on the Tennessee river 20mins from huntsville and has a population of 65-75k people.
