    Freeware - Repair corrupt word documents?

    Does anyone know of software that will repair corrupt word documents, there's a few online but the ones I could find were demos and need to be paid for before they can be used.. Something that's a pain when you work in a local authority and arranging payment could take a fortnight

    Some time ago I've managed to open corrupt word and excel documents with StarOffice. Then saved them and they were "fixed".

    OpenOffice works too ... rescued a lot of Word and Excel files with that.
