Fire GL4
Aparantly there is a new card coming out called a Fire GL4. Most notably made by ATI and Diamond.
Moral of the story is that I've just been told to order one for the shop here, and I want to know what the big deal is. Why does this card sell for $2100?! <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0"> We're going to be using it for rendering. Is it really worth this?
I can find precious little information about this online. I was wondering if anyone had the inside scoop here? All replies are appreciated.

The FireGL Series of cards are high dollar indeed. They are used in design systems for CAD and other APPS. My first FireGL was a PCI flavor with 64meg memory on it cost over 1000.00 and didn't at the time support D3D only openGL. My second FireGL also a PCI flavor was purchased used for 19.00. http://spec.unipv.it/gpc/opc.data/HP.../viewperf.html This link takes you to viewperf results using FireGL4. I sure would like to see one in action using solidworks.
