    Big Problems

    system specs:
    abit KT7A-Raid; 1200mhz Athlon T-bird
    2 sticks sdram 1-128mb 1 512mb (both 133)
2 40 gig Hard Drives in raid 0 on onboard highpoint ctrl.
    Nvidia Geforce2 mx200
    generic cd-rom
    HP Cdrw model 9100
    Windows 2000 pro

Now for the Problem: System has been running with no significant hw/sw changes for quite some time. all of a sudden the moniter will go black (like power saving-an audible click and all) whenever it feels like. at the same time the HD activity light is steady on. this can occur in windows, or during boot up as early as memory count or in the raid bios search, or while setting personal settings for win 2000 pro. Sometimes I can even use the computer! If I leave it run after going black occasionally it will come back up and do a restart, not always but some times.
What I have tried: switched power supply, traded out ram-remove one then the other replacing first, pci video card in place of agp

If motherboard is toast and I must replace it I would like to keep the raid. does it matter which ide plug the drives are in to save the raid. I know this is chancy at best and only with same raid controller.

I would try to remove the CPU from the socket and insert it again. If it won't work then you're quite out of luck. If you have a spare hdd handy try to ghost whatever you have on the raid array (boot from ghost floppy), chances are that the new mobo won't even see the array. And yes, even if through some miracle it does see the array, it does matter how the drives are connected.
