    Post Pc problems

    hi can you help
i have a system with a geoforce 2 mx in it
but, when i play certain games i get odd colours (bright green) where there are weapon strikes. i have put my card in alesser system, and it works fine, and i have also put another card in mine, and i get the same problem.
i have all the newest drivers, and have tried various bios settings.
it is just annoying, and i want to fix it.
is it possible that the processor is dammaged and has problems displaying graphics.

    just fed up

due to a number of emails i am recieving i thought i would add this

i have tried altering the video acceleration settings.
i have installed the latest drivers for everything interactively, which means a long time rebuilding the system.

    i have the following
    amd 1 ghz
asus a7v motherboard with udma 100 controller built in
    256 pc133 sdram
    nvida geoforce mx 2
    30 gig udma mode 5 (100)
    creative soundblaster live 1024
intel pro 100+ wake on lan network adapter
    us robotics external sporster 56k
    DVD/ cd rw drive

    the other system is
    amd 750MHZ
    256 mb pc100 sdram
    gigabyte 71xe mother board
    DVD Drive
    soundblaster pci128
    nvida geoforce mx 2
intel pro 100+ wake on lan network adapter

on the second system the game works fine.
i have changed various parts about to see if that makes a difference. i.e. graphics card memory hd.
i have tried a bare system i.e. graphics card, sound card
    and still it plays up.

the game in question is unreal tournament, and when there is a scorch mark on the scenery/wall/floor it is not all black but black and bright luminent green and the whole PC Grinds to a halt untill the offending piece of scenery is no longer in view.

now i used to have a 400 mhz system with a voodoo3 and it was slower but it never played up.

that is why i wondered if it was the processor that may be dammaged in some way, i.e. the 3d now instructions.

If you have tried a diferent monitor

it may be the processor but i'd be more looking at the chipset on the mobo
    How old is the motherboard

the motherboard is only a couple of months old, and has allready been changed to see if this is the problem, also the memory has been changed.

i do a lot of bussiness with the shop where i get my stuff, so they are very helpfull.

when i was testing the other system it had the same monitor on it, and it worked fine.

i haved built loads of systems for people that i build to spec, and never had any problem like this before, and i allways test the hell out of them

My Geforce 2 GTS does the same thing when rockets are fired etc. in UT I fixed it by upping the color depth from 16-bit to 32-bit.

    yey all fixed
it was a mptherboard/ graohics card problem.
i found a website that gave out advice to do with this problem i followed it, i.e. drivers etc, which new drivers where available on friday, and also new bios on friday, and it is all working excellent now.

in UT in practice session i can run 1024x768 32bit colour and have a total of 80 BOTS before system performance degrades.

also on another note i overclocked my athlon to 1.2 ghz up 200mhz and it is stable, no extra cooling. i also overclocked my geoforce 2 mx so that memory and processor on the card are running at 192mhz and it is running smooth.

    thanks for all your help.
