WinNT won't answer Phone!
Hey all!
I have a winnt box that doesn't seem to want to answer incoming
calls.....The modem isn't for dialin access from another computer, but
for a person with a touch-tone telephone for changing a program's settings.
Now, the modem is installed correctly. I don't need to dialout (the
phoneline isn't setup that way anyways), so I'm making the assumption that I
don't need protocols installed for the modem (i.e. TCP/IP, NetBEUI).....I
can get a dial tone, and the computer can dial the modem (thought I'd see if
the computer would even talk to the modem - and it does).
So - If the nt machine won't answer the phone - would this be program
specific only? - Or is it because I do need certain networking components
installed (I'd fine this hard to believe again as this has nothing to do
with the function of the modem).
Kinda vague I know, but it's more of an inquiry
Thanks!!!!
Do you smell something burning?....

You need to set it to auto answer
There are programs such as fax programs that do this
Or you look up the init string that sets auto answer.
The program that the modem is tied to to change these settings is what?

It's called SMC, that's all i can remember at the moment (I'm on holidays and the office is calling me for some advice...). It's for an RF switcher at a television station, and this is a new machine for this purpose. I haven't sat infront of the program yet, so I might have to wait till Monday to check out possible fixes....I do think it has to do with the program though (wish i was infront of it).
