What do you all think of this
I am currently on Road Runner (Cable) through Time Warner and I just found an offer of anti-virus and firewall provided by them (Road Runner). I guess I am just dumb but I have never heard of this one. It is "eTrust EZ Armor" from CA (Compter Associates). I have been using AVG free version for a few months with no apparent problems but it has seemed to lag as far as updaing dat files. I have a router in my set up and no other firewall currently. I am running win 2000 if that makes any difference to this question. So what do you think I should do, switch to this eTrust EZ Armor or stay as I have been. According to the documents I have read I have to uninstall any other anti-virus before this can install.

IMO, if you're NATed behind your router you don't need an additional firewall. I'd stick to what you've got. For the most part, if you block attachments in outlook (and don't open attachments when you don't know what they are) and have NAT (with no ports forwarded) your already blocking 99% of the threats out there.
My Mom just got Mimail.j because she OPENED AN UNKNOWN ATTACHMENT! /me shakes head... when will they learn?

I love my AVG. Used it for a long time with no problems and it's caught any buggies trying to get in.
I do have a sygate personal firewall (even though I am behind a NATd router) because I like to know and controll whats communicating. Like, WHY is winamp, windows media, etc... trying to connect to the internet when I play music? No, I don't think so....

The antivirus they are offering is actually an offering from Ca and Microsoft..you mat remember the free edition of Inoculate IT that a lot of people used to use..that is essentially what it is with an updated engine and definitions, and bundled with a repackaged zonealarm firewall. I have a number of customers that use it and it functions at least as well as avg free.
