    Wink Free Cyber Alerts

At long last we'll be safe!

I saw this on Screen Savers last night and just had to share with those who are frigtheningly worried about e-mail virus propagation.

As Patrick was saying: So when there's an e-mail virus out there you'll be notified by... e-mail (paraphrase)

They even had a chart where green = "Meh" and red = "Oh snap!".

    Funny stuff.

It would be hilarous if it wasn't true.

I saw this and first thought - That's a swell idea!

Then I started thinking, WAIT! That's MY tax money going down the drain! How is the government going to determine what will spread to warn people about when security companies can barely do it as it is? Also, if they report everything, you'll just wind up with an annoyance that spams you about todays 3 new bugs. Sigh.

Didn't even think of that. Anyone remember the jdbgmgr.exe "virus" about 2 years ago? Just imagine if half the country deleted a critical system file.
