What's really sad is how many people will fall for it! This stuff has been happening, as you know, to EBay users for a long time now. When will people learn? But geeesssshhhh, that is some horrible spelling making it sooo obvious. Now ebay: well they really spoof well. Tricks some longtime users into revealing sensitive info. Welcome to the new world of cybercrime.

Sounds like the Policeman from Allo Allo has been tapped up to provide the text for spammers

Yeah, I get a lot of the ones that are just random words thrown together. I don't know if that's something where they're trying to find out what addresses really are existing, or if they're probing your filters or what....
I use Mail Washer, and what I really loved was when I got spam where the subject was 'Eliminate SPAM!' I said OK....then clicked bounce, process.

The string of random words are generated to try and get round spam filters and are sometimes hidden in the HTML mail by using the background colour.
This in itself gives new spam filters a foot hold in blocking them as it is obviously a spam by its content.
As to bouncing you might actually be returning it to an innocent mail address so if both bounce mails you just conjest the system with return mails.

ok , i also use mailwasher , and dread clicking on one account , most of the "spam" i recioeve seems to be coming from AOL sites ,,,today i have had 96 , of which 70 were from
    aol
in one week alone i fowarded 600 to [email protected]

so if we want to clean the system (e-mail) up , then lets start with AO hell ,

hav,nt they a "moral" stance to make sure that there system is not being used for abuse (and pornographic) content.

Yes applications like mailwasher make sense given the recent rounds of virus activities.
Another option for some services is to use a disposable email address from a service such as http://www.sneakemail.com/ or http://www.spamex.com/

Yeah, one of the nice things about Mailwasher is that it will display the text-only portion of email, and not hit any images or display HTML. There are bad things about disposable email addresses, though. If I hadn't had the same email address for the last 3+ years, my ex wouldn't have gotten that message to me. Now we've been dating again for just over 8 months.
