    scanner driver LOSS

    Hey guys, I have a UMAX AstraNet 5420 scanner that one of my users lost the disk for. I need to be able to install it on a 98 machine, and I cannot seem to be able to find the drivers for it online. Have tried almost everywhere, so no posts about driverguide, or scannerdrivers.com, or check the support site at UMAX, cuz i haev tried it all.

    any ideas?

    You have to buy it. Umax have systematically gone round the internet taking down sites that offer umax scanner driver/software.

    yep! What she said! They started doing that awhile back. First it was just US sites that quit allowing downloads then the european ones, etc....

    The claim at the time was it was because the files were just too large... they offered it ( back then ) for a nominal fee of $50 or so....
