    easy crab bisque

I really wanted to make a nice dinner for Jamie this past valentine's day despite that we had our valentines outing a couple of weeks earlier when we went out to a fancy restaurant and stayed in a nice hotel (a baby free morning). anyway I got stuck installing flooring in our bathroom with her dad for way longer than it should've taken. so I didn't have a whole lot of time to make anything fancy.

I found a recipe for easy crab bisque and figured I'd give it a shot. it was really good (surprisingly) and incredibly simple to make. here's the recipe.

1 can cream of asparagus soup (condensed)
1 can cream of mushroom soup (condensed)
    1/4 cup milk
    1/4 cup half and half
1/4 cup sherry (more if you like it or if you've got good sherry and not just cooking wine)
    8 ounces crab meat
some water (maybe one can's worth) to thin it out a bit to desired consistency.
    old bay to taste

combine ingrediants. boil then simmer for a few minutes.

I served with some italian bread that was cut in large chunks drizzled with olive oil sprinkled with kosher salt and then toasted in the oven.

OK as said it came out very good, but here's what I'd do next time (and there will be a next time) scold the half and half and milk and melt in some nice melting cheese - american, chedder jack, or something - so that it's a bit chessy but still the original consistency (runny) then combine all ingrediants except crab and blend in the blender. (despite tasting great - you could kind of tell it was made from campbells soup - itty bitty mushroom pieces) bring to boil, add the crab and simmer.

    That sounds like a keeper.

I might have to substitute the mushroom soup for a cheese or other thick soup, as she's allergic, but I like your additions/modifications.

My wife loooooooooves crab and is quite fond of seafood chowders in general, so this is bound to score me some brownie points.

    Thanks!

Sounds good. Too bad my wife doesn't like crab, though...

You also might want to use crab next time though... You sure those little bits of mushroom were actually mushroom...

it took me a long time and a lot of fiber to get that 8 ounces.
sometimes spell check isn't good enough. I'm fixing with an edit now though
