BNC cable, is it worth it?

My monitor has BNC connection along with the regular one. I found the cable for $16 shipped, is it worth it? will there be a difference in picture? I have a KDS 19" that I run at 1152x864 32bit color. I have a tnt2 32mb card and im upgrading to the geforce 2 gts 64mb soon.

Way back in the days before DVI, running RGB through BNC connectors was the way to go. (jeez, alphabet soup!)
As I recall, there WAS supposed to be improved picture quality using the BNC connections (I'm assuming there's three, one each for red, blue and green).

I have never used the BNC cable myself. However we have a few at work. The cable which has 4 BNC cables (Blue, Green, Red, and a fourth that is black not sure contrast or something) It is possible to get a video card with these outputs however they are hard to find and are usually expensive. Good luck finding one that is a GeForce 2.

I'm not sure what cable you are talking about for $16 but if it is the on that has a DVI on one end for the Video Card and the BNC on the other for the monitor. I don't see where you would see an improvement. To see it if there is one, you would have to get a video card with these BNC outputs. The intentded use of this cable is an adapter for monitors that only have BNC inputs. So that people can use the less expensive, easier to find DVI output video card.

I know this probably doesn't help a whole lot but it could explain the use of the cable if it is the one I think it is.

I have always used the BNC when there was the option and prefer it over the standard SVGA 15 pin. As was stated above if it is worth the bucks go for it.
Oh yeah, the fourth cable is sync, Very important.

My monitor has 5 BNC connections, r,g,b,H,V

I've got about a hundred 3D Artists using a combination of bnc or D-Sub connections at work you can't tell the difference between them. If they were using very expensive monitors perhaps there would be some difference but you cant tell most apart.

Buy yourself some beer instead.

I just checked your link and the price was down to $10.
The five connections on your monitor are:
Red
Blue
Green
Horizontal Sync
Vertical Sync

I still believe that with the quality of monitor you're using, you would see an improvement. But it's your money and your decision. <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">

dont forget the $5 for shipping that will make it $15. I dont want to spend the money if it wont improve my picture quality over the regular hookup. I guess I have to just try it and hope for the best.

$15 isn't really so much these days, I doubt you'll be sorry you made the purchase.
