    Question Backup Software

    Anyone make a suggestion on a good backup software to backup to cd on a machine running win xp.

    not free, but NTI backup now is nice. I was just playing with retrospect today, but I didn't like how long it took to erase CDRW. . . . other than that it was pretty suite (mispelling intenional )

    If the backup job you're doing is pretty static, you could use one of the basic CD-burner packages. I use Nero Burning Rom (by Ahead Software) for all my cd burning needs and have next to no trouble with it.

    All I can say is NEVER use the HP Backup software...while it backs up in a reasonable length of time, it takes eons to do the restore process.

    Nowadays, nearly all the CD authoring utilities have some sort of backup program built into them.

    However, when dealing with NT based operating systems, there is the possibility of having permision problems when attempting to backup system files. Try to insure that whatever program you use is able to access the files you wish to backup.
