Low Volume
I'm running win 98 on a HP 6460 had some work done on my computer they said it was the modem. Replaced modem but then no sound, figured out that I had a Rockwell riptide combo card and they did not give me a new sound card, they installed a soundblaster 5.1 and now I when I turn the voulme all the way up it sounds like it's a 4 on a scale of 1-10????
I have no idea how to fix this problem, I've been looking for a replacement for the original Rockwell riptide combo card with little luck if any.

Are your speakers powered? It was suggested to me that with the new boards, etc., you should go with powered speakers. I had the same problem.
