    Angry help!!

I was trying to reply to the previous thread but apparently started a new one. All this is new to me. Compared to Vinny(prior thread) I am a true novice and have no idea what I am doing.

I am writing from my work laptop as my home computer appears to be dead.

My initial symptoms sound alot like that of Vinny's but now I keep getting messages about shortcuts that are not there and have lost all functionality on my 6 year old gateway running windows 98.

At start up I keep getting messages that I am missings short cuts. One of the files mentioned is morze5.exe. I have found some info on google etc but most of it is greek. What I do know is that I am able to close many if not all of the popups indicating the shortcut is missing but then my cpu eventually freezes or performs an "illegal" operation and stops completely. I am unable to access the internet from my pc and cannot access my start menu. I have no functionallity.

    Any suggestions?

    First, Welcome to Windrivers!!!!!!

Now, for starters, try this link:

    and look at response #18

Sounds like a malicious program like a virus, trojan etc. You might want to start by boot scanning for viruses. Do you know how to do that?

Also, what antivirus software are you running? Is it updated? Have you scanned for viruses recently?

Also, who is Vinny and can you provide us with a link to his post?

Vinny is a member here morze5 and how to kill it!

    Welcome to Windrivers CFranzen.

Start by fishing out your win 98 cd, click start, run and type in SFC

In the dialogue box scan for all changes. It will tell you what it repaired.
