I was wondering why he would have to pay 1100 dollars to have the network cable run to his desk? Has the price of Cat 5 gone up dramitally in the last 24 hours?

Those things are just about worthless (so I've heard). You have to be like right on top of the ap to actually see anything. But hey free is free right?

Right now in the our wonderful state of Minnesota, might be close. Because to do anything with a network cable you have to have your low voltage licence, and its a gray area if you need to be a Journyman. No kidding!!
But I thinks its more likely its a comission sales, and its to rent the office space (you all own me I just over came the doomed thread with great words)

Still think this state ought to be classified as uninhabitable.

I see goofy stuff like this all the time. We have old buildings and instead of running nice looking pipe/whatever to contain cables with extra lines along pretty open ceilings and ancient wood support beams they opend to run conduit under the floor. Cable vendor comes out and looks at the job and finds that the condiut does not have any pull strings or extra cabe and has to take the whole day trying to push cable through conduit.
Or they find that the wires had to be run through a different floor and again, as above the tards that ran the initial cable didn't leave pullstring so they need 2 guys working the whole day.
Suddenly a lynksys hub pops up in 1 of the cubicles so they can network their new laser priters that they all had to have on their desks and when it gets hosed or they have slowness my life becomes a nightmare trying to troubleshoot.
