Event log not functioning

I have noticed that my Event log is no longer recording events on our Win2k Domain Controller. Not only is it not recording, its empty.

When I first click onto the System event log, it will say "2,157 events" but when you click off and back onto it, it'll read "0 events". I have tried emptying the logs, no luck. I've rebooted, restarted the event service, no luck. Even after a reboot there are no entries in any of the logs with the normal startup messages.

I am on sp4. Any ideas?

You should contact Microsoft, reference this article, I bet your issue is related:

They offer a free patch, but you can't get it without contacting them.

Edit, I can't seem to get the address to link up. Must be a character in there that HTML doesn't apreciate. Copy and past the URL, you should do fine...
