Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to this site and need help?
My question is in regards to: Device Manager for Wnidows XP PRO

    1. Does anyone know of a site where I can find a list of Device manager catergories and the basic explanation of each item?

    2. A List of Device Manager Error Codes and possible resolutions to resolve the errors generated by Device Manager?

I would be very greatful if someone could help!

In a nutshell, if you have an error on this page, then either the drivers are incompatible, or the hardware is defective.

A d e p t, The error has nothing to do with this site or page. I'm have trouble with internet settings thats why I requested the infor in my first POST..
I do have another Question: If I remove/uninstall a device driver will the add/remove Wizard find that item again if I need it by chance?
    Thanks for your reply..

For an explanation of Device Manager, and by the way it is helpful if you tell us what version of Windows you have, go here.

    http://www.computerhope.com/win95er.htm

Google will find you any number of sites to go to. What is your internet settings problem, and again what version of Windows?

And as to you second question Windows will find any plug and play device you remove and then reinstall, BUT you need to have the driver for the hardware if your version Windows doesn't have it on your pc or installtion disc.

My mistake - I should have used "Device Manager window" instead of "page".

If it is a connection problem you have with a modem or a network card (the usual yellow exclamation mark: , then you will want to reload current drivers for that hardware. I suggest you have the drivers available before removing that device from the Device Manager.

For problems not relevant to hardware issues, look into the Internet Options located in the Windows Control Panel.
